During the drive /pull apart event, a breaking force and eventual shear is applied allowing the two parts to separate successfully. At this point, the two halves snap shut preventing liquid or gas from flowing through what is now the disconnect. This safety mechanism prevents damage to the loading system while ensuring minimal product loss.
